Foundations First: Laying the Groundwork for Lasting DEI Success

As I navigate the complex terrain of today's coaching and consulting environment, and we hear more and more about both the successes and failures in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, it's clear that passion for the work isn't enough. We need strategies grounded in deep understanding and skill. 

Caring about DEI and having lived experience of marginalization matter but do not automatically confer the capacity for translating an understanding of the impacts of inequity and exclusion into the identification of root causes or effective strategies to address them.

In response to the often-fractious debates around this work and focus on short-term failures and disinvestment-- despite the ever-growing body of evidence demonstrating the benefits of DEI done right-- I’ve set out to discuss some foundational methodologies and approaches I rely on in my work to achieve more effective, equitable, and inclusive organizations.
